19 Days 'til the 2007 Supercross Season

Only 19 days left until Anaheim one; the first race of the 2007 Supercross season.
It's crunch time; the riders are in strict training, the mechanics are making sure every nut and bolt is in its place, the Factory teams are cleaning up the rigs and polishing the tents, the fans are getting excited and doing their SX homework, and Miss Supercross herself is looking forward to another great year of racing.
19 days and 19 stars...it's a countdown of legends from the past, the present, and the future! Keeping with that theme MTM's star of the day is, Doug Henry.
Doug Henry was born in 1969 in Milford, Connecticut. At the age of 4 Henry's father bought him his first motorcycle which he learned to ride on the family farm. Henry grew up watching the kids in his neighborhood ride their motorcycles through his backyard to get to the local trails, all the while wishing he was with them. When he was big enough his Dad got him a Yamaha YZ80, and in no time Henry was on his way to Southwick for his first race. From that point on his career took off and it was clear to see that Henry was made for motocross. Even after being named one of the top juniors in his division and also one of the fastest, Henry still didn't think he could ever make a living out of racing. In 1988, Henry, at the age of 19, decided to race a selected few races in the AMA Motocross Nationals. In his first two years he stayed close to home, and then in 1990 he decided to go full throttle and travel the whole circuit. Henry put in solid top ten finishes that year and for it he received a contract with DGY Yamaha for 1991. Henry was set to race the AMA 125cc Motocross and 125cc East Supercross Series. After a surprising victory at the Hangtown national that year Henry became an instant icon, and recognized rider. From there Henry's career took off. From Yamaha to Honda and back to Yamaha again, from Supercross/Motocross to Supermoto, from breaking his back to making the comeback of a lifetime, Doug Henry has proven that he deserved the Honor he received in 2005 by being inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
Thanks Doug!
